President
Ailsa is the President of the Law Society. In her pivotal role, she oversees the Society's work, ensures all other committee members are acting efficiently in their roles and acts as the main point of contact for Aberdeen University Law Society. In addition, in the previous academic year, Ailsa took on the part of Treasurer for the Society, which provided her with the knowledge and experience necessary to become President.
Ailsa's presidency goal this academic year is to help support the rest of the Committee to organise a full calendar of events for our members to enjoy. From this, she plans to ensure that these events allow our members to meet new people and network with our sponsor firms to make the vacation scheme and training contract less daunting. Further, Ailsa is also eager to increase the number of collaborations with other societies within the University of Aberdeen and externally with other law societies throughout Scotland.
As this year is the third in which Ailsa has been part of the Law Society, she is a very experienced member, and now, as President, she is excited to orchestrate and oversee the opportunities we give to our members. She is thrilled to be in a role where she can be involved in every aspect of the Committee, ensuring we give members the best chances to meet new people and improve their employability through organising events and workshops. As Ailsa has previously been part of the Committee, she has become much more outgoing and confident by engaging with representatives of our sponsor firms and the larger student body. She is very enthusiastic to see what this year has to offer now that we are entirely back on campus at the University.
Ailsa is particularly interested in Private Client work, such as Succession and Trusts, as well as Family Law. She also appreciates looking into current legal issues such as Abortion Laws internationally.
